Herbs can both cause and treat anxiety depending on the herb that has been ingested. There are significant herbs that are known for causing anxiety. They include lemon balm, passion flower and chamomile. Even though there are many herbs that have great health benefits, there is a side effect with some herbs in which it could cause anxiety. Some vitamins that are in these herbs can also cause depression and anxiety.

For instance, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C all can cause or increase anxiety in people. For example, Sage is a great herb that helps with lowering blood sugar levels and affect cholesterol. However, since the sage has high levels of Vitamin B6, then dried sage can also cause anxiety due to the vitamin.
