Many herbs are used for several proteins when cooking. All of these herbs will flavor food and they are common to pair them with fish, pork and beef. However, there are certain herbs that go specifically with steak. Thyme is a popular herb that can be added to steak. Some people will dry thyme out and then add it to the steak while cooking it. Others will use fresh thyme to flavor their beef dishes.

Many people will grow thyme in their gardens so that it is easily available to use when grilling the steaks. It is also easy to grow. Other herbs that go well with steaks include parsley, sage, rosemary and basil. All of these herbs can grow in a garden and provide a strong flavor to steak.
