The average cost of food in Portugal is about the same of that in America. A full meal at McDonald’s, for example, is $7.02 or so in Portugal. It’s about the same price in America, depending on what size fries and drink you get. However, there are places that the prices are different. Bread is one such item. In Portugal, you will pay about $1 for a loaf of bread.

In America, that same loaf of bread is $2. It’s twice as expensive as the bread in Portugal. Eggs are also about twice as expensive in Portugal as they are in America. For those looking to cook their own food while visiting Portugal, be prepared to spend a lot on food. Maybe a couple of nights out would be worth it.
