This question is more of a psychological question; it deals with your state of mind. Some people will prefer living in the past than in the present because, in the past, there was a lot less competition and evil in society. In the past, there was a lot less pressure like the technology pressure where everyone wants the latest phone, the latest car, and the luxury of life.
However, living in the present might have all these challenges, but this technology makes life easier, moving from one place to another has been a lot easier, sharing information has been faster, trade between countries is now easier with less barrier. Living in the past and living in the present both have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Living in the present is a bit harder than living in the past. You have some realities that you have to face right now and you do not know yet what the outcome is going to be. You need to be prepared for things that might not go your way. In the past, you already know the things that you are going to do. There are things that may have happened in the past that are fun and exciting.
You would like to relive those moments first so that you can be reminded of happier times. It can still be hard to live in the past though because the more that you relive those moments, the harder it will be for you to move on from everything. Living in the past is still going to be unhealthy for you.
Living in the present is harder than living in the past. In the past you have memories with very strong emotional connections which can make it easy to get stuck there. Things happening in the present are scary and unknown. There are not any strong emotional connections formed yet, only new and often scary experiences.
So it is very easy to escape the present fears and anxiety by reliving happier moments in the past when everything was different or simpler.
