In order to look at a solar eclipse without causing lasting damage to your eyes, you will need to find a way to block the damaging rays. You can purchase glasses from online stores that can help with this, but you can also make a project of your own. This is a very simple project which kids can also help with. First, you take an empty cereal box and trace the outline of the box on a piece of white paper.

Then you cut out the outline and place it in the bottom of the cereal box. Then you cut out two holes for your eyes in the bottom of the cereal box and put tin foil over the holes and finally put a pinhole in it. Now you have your own device to look at the eclipse.
