Sometimes chocolate gives people headaches. Specifically, chocolate can give those people who suffer from migraines a migraine most of the time. Headaches are caused by the blood vessels in your head contracting and not letting enough blood to flow through. There is a chemical in chocolate that makes the blood vessels contract. This is what causes the headaches.

However, people who suffer from migraines are not the only victims of a “chocolate headache.” Instead, anyone can eat chocolate and trigger a headache. Other people may have another reaction to chocolate. If a headache starts, this person may eat chocolate. The chocolate causes the headache to stop. This just simply depends on the person. Some people can go for their whole lifetime without getting a headache that is triggered by chocolate.
