Natural rights of the individual and limiting the power of the government.-the ideas of the enlightenment quickly reached the british colonies. many of the leaders responsible for the writing of the constitution were familiar with the leading thinkers of the movement, and framed the constitution protecting the natural rights of the individual and limiting the power of the government. (a) is incorrect because it addresses only one aspect of the natural rights of the individual. (c) is incorrect because the purpose of the constitution was actually to limit the power of the government and not to protect it. (d) is incorrect because it does not represent the ideals of the age of reason. competency 023
