Ketosis is the state in the body where the fat turns into the energy. This can be caused by a change in one’s diet from carbohydrates from high amounts to low amounts. Ketosis can be measured based on severity by looking at the patient’s blood concentration. When consuming alcohol, there are slight reactions to the alcohol to the ketones in the body especially if someone has incurred ketosis.

The alcohol itself is not the main problem, but the carbohydrates that are in the alcoholic beverages. The actual pure alcohol may strengthen the ketosis, but low-carb drinks may not necessarily affect ketosis. It is also important to note that people who suffer from ketosis become more accustomed to alcohol so they may have a tendency to drink alcohol more.
