After 48 hours of ingestion, alcohol can be found in a urinalysis and will remain in your system for 12 to 36 hours after detection. A few key factors that will determine how long alcohol will stay in your system is the type of alcohol that was recently consumed, what food was eaten during that period, age, weight and gender.

Some labs use a testing method called “EtG”, an abbreviation for Ethyl Glucuronide, which is a biomarker that determines whether or not the body has metabolized alcohol recently. The EtG detects the ethyl glucuronide in the urine, confirming if alcohol has been ingested as long as 3-4 days after digestion or 80 hours after the liver metabolizes the alcohol.
