It is important to listen to the Gospel because it is actually the word of God. It is quite clear to us that Jesus wants us to learn lessons and to get wisdom from God’s word. In verse 18, he says that we should actually be vigilant of how we listen. Going to church on a Sunday morning to listen to a sermon once a week, is not all that there is.
Instead, we should all be willing to listen to God’s word throughout the week. This improves one’s relationship with God, and also brings great positive changes in one’s life.
