What is the functional relationship between skeletal muscles and bones?

As one might suppose based on name alone the skeletal muscles and the bones have a direct relationship to one another. Functionally the skeletal muscles use the bones as levers to cause movement of the body and its many moving parts. Muscles are made up of a mass of tough elastic tissue.

They simply act in relation to the bones to pull them whatever direction we want when we are ready to move our body. Different muscles will perform differently depenidng what part of the body they are attached to and how they need to move in order to complete their intended function.
