Lord of the Flies is a 1954 novel written by a Nobel Peace Prize winning British author named William Golding. The premise of the book revolves around a group of British boys stranded on an uninhibited island. The book follows their completely disastrous attempt at governing themselves. One of the boys is a boy that is referred to as Piggy.
Piggy says that he thinks the first thing they should do when they get stranded is build a shelter along the beach. Amongst other honors the book has been named on Time magazine's top 100 best English language novels.
