The minimal amount of shrouding acceptable for a female is five sheets. It is believed that a single piece of cloth should cover the entire body as well as the other pieces of cloth to meet the minimal requirements for the shrouding. Shrouding has been part of the Muslim and Islamic culture for many centuries, and is done as part of the burial process of a deceased member out of respect.
Part of the shrouding process is for the deceased member to be washed before the shrouding by members of their family or, in some cases it will be done by member of the community.
