The chalet became a famous type of house associated with Switzerland. It is easy to recognize with pitched angled roofs and the structure of the house is usually made out of wood. The roofs are pitched so that the snow can melt and fall off of the roof. An accumulation of snow on a roof without having any way to fall off of it can cause damage to the roof and structure underneath.

Chalets are most found to be in areas of snow. Usually, people will see a chalet in a snow skiing resort. Europe is the main place where chalets can be found. However, they are used only in the winter time for recreational use. In the other months, a chalet may be used to store products from the nearby farms.
