Depending on the gorilla determines whether they climb trees or not. Some of the gorilla species are known for climbing trees, but others do not. Most gorillas are too large to hang onto a tree. The average weight of a gorilla is about 400 pounds. They also can grow to be over 5 feet tall. Also, gorillas can stand upright, but it would be difficult to do that considering their height and weight.

Therefore, the gorillas move around on their hands and feet. They will walk on their knuckles because of the way they hold their hands. Their fingers are bent over. So, when they walk they must walk on their knuckles. It was believed at one time that humans might have walked this way.
