The American College of Laboratory Medicine certifies veterinarians as specialists in laboratory animal medicine. This college is meant to help ensure that everyone who goes into a vet’s clinic as a doctor is able to do their job right. They have even come out with an app that is meant to help those in labs know what kind of drugs affect the animals they take care in the labs when given in particular dosages.

It also keeps all certified veterinarians up to date on all the latest news - such as the fact that the National Institutes of Health (or the NIH) is going to be completely retiring their research on chimps in 2016. The remaining chimps the NIH has for research have been or will be sent to sanctuaries to spend the rest of their days.
