Japan has a population of almost 127 million people. It also has a total area of almost 380 thousand kilometers. That is a density of over 330 people per squared kilometer. Since Japan is an island nation, its area is limited. Expanding its borders was always difficult due to it being on an island. This is actually a high density of population compared to China, United States, Malaysia and Ethiopia.
China’s population is over a billion people, but China has nine million squared kilometers of land. China’s density is 145 people per squared kilometer. The United States has over 320 million people living on about almost 10 million square kilometers. The United States’ density is about 35 people per squared kilometer. Malaysia and Ethiopia have less of a population density than Japan.
