A map of the tectonic plates would be helpful to see the land masses that form the earth’s surface. The tectonic plates are the things that move the land masses. When one rubs up against another, an earthquake happens. This is because of the friction, and then they suddenly move past each other. When they push into each other, mountains and hills form.

Canons form when they push away from each other. There isn’t a lot of room for them to push away or push into each other, but they still continue to push and pull against each other as they move on the liquid outer core underneath the mantle. Most of the land masses are contained within a tectonic plate, and there are a few that move nothing but ocean.
