St. John’s is the capital city of Antigua and Barbuda. These two islands are actually considered one country. They are located in the Caribbean and share this same capital city. St. John’s is located on the Antigua Island. This city has about twenty-two thousand people living there permanently. The islands were settled there in the 1600s, but became their own country in the early 1980s.

Tourism is dominant in St. John’s with its attractive shops, resorts and restaurants for those vacationers who are visiting St. John’s. Recently, St. John’s has strengthened its economy by including banking as one of its industries. Soccer and cricket are popular sports in St. John’s. They also have some museums including the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda.
