Obsessive-compulsive disorder, or most commonly referred to as OCD, is an anxiety disorder wherein a person suffers unwanted thoughts or imagination which causes a great deal of discomfort and anxiety. He or she then engages in repetitive acts to get rid of these unwanted thoughts or imagination. A person who suffers from OCD may experience the following symptoms which is divided into two groups:
1. Obsessions
• Excessive fear of germs;
• Having or developing aggressive thoughts to inflict harm to other people or to his/herself;
• Wanting things to be in perfect order; and
• Experiencing unwanted thoughts that are forbidden such as religion and sex.
2. Compulsions
• Excessive cleaning of things;
• Repeatedly checking on things; and
• Repeatedly arranging things in a precise manner.
