The FDA, or Food and Drug Administration, is the organization that regulates food and drugs that are sold to the public. The organization sets laws about what is considered safe for public consumption, as well as regulations that must be met for sellers to claim that their food is organic.

The FDA also conducts important research on new drugs that enter the marketplace to determine possible side effects and decide whether or not that drug is safe for dissemination to the public. Though the regulations set up by the FDA may be controversial for some individuals who believe they restrict free trade in the market, they perform important work that helps to protect the health and wellness of citizens.
