Neutron and proton are found inside the nucleus of an atom; neutrons with protons and electrons make up an atom. Unlike protons, which have a positive charge or electron with a negative charge, the neutron has zero charges, which is the reason why it is a neutral particle.

In 1932, a neutron was predicted by Ernest Rutherford and discovered by James Chadwick. Neutrons are found in almost all-atom with proton and electron expect in hydrogen -1

Neutrons are made of quarks. A neutron is made up of one up quark and two down quarks. The up quark has a charge of +2/3, and the two down quark have charges of -1/3. The fact that these charges cancel each other is why neuron has neutral or zero charges.

Each piece of an atom has significant importance in the way the atom acts and performs. Neutrons are a part of this deal. If an atom has equivalent numbers of electrons and protons, the charges cancel each other out, which gives the atom a neutral charge. You could add as many neutrons into the assortment as you want, but the charge would not change.

Neutrons are the fragments in an atom that has a neutral charge. They are not positive like protons or negative like electrons. Neutrons are essential because they participate in the mass and radioactive properties of atoms. All elements have atoms with neutrons except for one. A typical hydrogen atom does not have any neutrons in its nucleus.
