Hemostasis is a process which causes bleeding to stop, meaning to keep blood within a damaged blood vessel. It is the first stage in which wound healing begins. The process involves coagulation, and blood is changing from a liquid to gel.

Intact blood vessels are central to moderating blood’s tendency to form clots. Hemostasis occurs when blood is present outside of the body or blood vessels. It is the natural response for the body to stop bleeding and the loss of blood.

Platelets play a significant role in the hemostatic process. Platelets are responsible for stopping the bleeding of unnoticed wear and tear of our skin on a daily basis.

Cryoprecipitate and fresh frozen plasma-the liver is vital in the synthesis of clotting factors, so when its diseased or dysfunctional, as in hepatitis c, bleeding occurs. treatment consists of administering blood products that aid clotting. these include fresh frozen plasma containing fibrinogen and cryoprecipitate, which have most of the clotting factors. although administering whole blood, albumin, and packed cells will contribute to hemostasis, those products arent specifically used to treat hemostasis. platelets are helpful, but the best answer is cryoprecipitate and fresh frozen plasma.
