Check the title in our catalog or l.s system to be sure that they have the call number correct and that the book is available. also look for display, teaching shelf, folio (f), and ref designations - students often miss these and look up in the regular stacks. 2. once you have the call number, go up to the stacks with the student - more often than not, the book is where it belongs, they are just looking in the wrong place.3. if it is not there, be sure to check the book carts and the new book shelf. if you still cannot locate it, fill out a missing book slip and ask the student if they would like to order it through e-z borrow. this way, the book will be on its way while we continue to try to locate it. 4. to take your customer service a step further, ask the student if they would like you to order the book for them. you can show them right at the circ computer how to do it and place the order for them.5. you can also place a hold on items like dvds or our leisure reading collection, but for items from our general collection, ordering through e-z borrow may actually be faster than waiting for something to be returned.
