Start by administering a broad spectrum antibiotic and start to stream line to a more specific antibiotic based on lab result -this question is not very specific and required a logical approach. first choice a you never start a narrow spectrum antibiotic right away based on assumptions. choice b you do not want to hold off treatment until the identification of the pathogen is confirmed because your patient may be dead by then or in a very serious state. choice c is correct in the first part but with more information you would want to make the antibiotic be more specific to the organism to enhance recovery of the patient.
