Which neurotransmitter is primarily involved in this disorder?

A patient presented with, a severe tremor, bradykinesia and rigidityI and progressive cognitive decline. He was diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disorder and his dyskinetic symptoms were treated with L-dopa/carbidopa. A CT scan showed pigmented cell loss in the substantia nigra.
