The answer to this question is letter E. This option stands for the number of wires available. The ATA66/100 is known to have a total of 80 wires. It does not have the same number of connectors though as it only has 40 connectors available. This allows this cable to still be used for older gadgets and computers.

If you have an old computer, you are more recommended to use the ATA/33 as this is considered to be more appropriate for your computer’s speed. You can check out further differences between these two cables so you will be able to make the right choice. The better your choice is, the more useful the cable is going to be for your needs.

Number of wires

The ATA66/100 cables have 80 wires but still retain the standard 40 pin connector to allow the drives to be backwards compatible with older computers that use ATA/33 or slower.
