Opium war-2. opium war-3. the opium war-4. the opium war-because the chinese were not as interested in european goods as the british were interested in chinese goods, the trade between the two nations always favored the chinese. to turn this around, the british began exporting large amounts of opium from india to china. although this brought in great revenues for the british, china was steadily deteriorating as people became addicted and corrupted for the drug. after failed attempts to negotiate with the british to make them leave, china initiated a blockade. the war eventually resulted in a british victory, leaving the chinese to pay a large sum.
