South America and Africa mountain ranges lined up when Wegener placed the landmasses together.
Alfred Wegener hypothesized that all the continents were once joined together in a single landmass and have since drifted apart. Wegener stated that the continents slowly moved over Earth’s surface which is known as the continental drift .
