Those animals that don’t have backbones do not have livers either. Livers are organs that fulfill a certain purpose which is to help with the digestive process. It also creates bile and helps separate the fat from the needed items that the body uses.

It is located underneath the diaphragm which helps us breathe. The pancreas is another organ in the body that also helps with the digestive system. It delivers insulin and other hormones into the bloodstream. Besides the digestive process, it also controls the blood sugar in the body.

After the liver secretes its digestive juices, they have to be stored somewhere. The pancreas does just that until the juices are needed by the intestines. Then the process with digestion continues in the intestines.
