The correct answer to the question isDNA replication occurs before the division of the nucleus. Although both mitosis and meiosis have different purpose, it is a truth acknowledged by everyone that they share common features regarding how they work. They have multiple stages – interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Both mitosis and meiosis are involved in DNA replication, as well.

This DNA replication, of course, occurs before DNA is separated between two cells. Once the cells are replicated, it will then be condensed into a form, which is called chromosomes, so that it can be transported efficiently. Of course, there are a few more similarities between the two, all of which you can find with a single internet search.
