Arthur Phillip was the commander of the first fleet that landed in Port Jackson, Australia on January 26th 1788. The first fleet is the one that established the colony andalthough James Cook voyaged to Australia, he wasn't in the first fleet.

Captain James Cook

Joseph Banks was on the first fleet but not a captain, and Captain James King took over for Cook when he died on his third voyage.
