Glucose is a monosaccharide because it has one sugar, just like ribose, galactose, fructose, and so on. It is a carbohydrate that pleases the body as it adds energy to the body; glucose acts as fuel to the body. The glucose in the body is processed by an enzyme called Insulin, which is produced by the pancreas.

People that their pancreas does not produce insulin take the insulin injection in order to process and regulate the glucose in the body. A high level of blood glucose can cause damages to the body, and a low sugar level can also cause damages; it is advisable to check your sugar level from time to time to make sure your sugar level is moderate.
