Florida became the 27th state of America last March 3 in the year 1845. In the past, it was Spain who owned Florida but they knew at that time that they could not stop the United States from taking that area anymore. Florida is known to be one of the most popular states in America. Some people specifically go to Florida in order to take vacations.

It helps that there are a lot of tourist spots there that can keep people preoccupied for a long time. Before the acquisition of the United States, this was first lived in by a Spaniard named Juan Ponce de Leon. He was a Spanish explorer who discovered this area.

Has become

It is not option (D) because it is the correct phrasing when talking about the U.S. It is not option (C) because this noun is defining the main subject (Florida). It is not option (B) because the number is a correct phrase. You should select option (A) because the sentence is stating a fact about the past, so the verb should be in simple past; not present perfect.
