Vertical organization is a traditional way of structuring the management and workers within a company or business. When viewing this structure in a chart, one may see it looking like a multi-leveled pyramid. Each level of the pyramid is a type of management level. The lowest level would be the workers. Above that, it would be the next system of management.

When the workers need to report to someone, they report to this next level. Then there is another level above that. As you go up the pyramid, you are getting higher up the management until you get to the CEO. Many companies use this type of structure, but during history The British East India Company controlled the tea industry without having many levels in their organization.
