How are percentages used when calculating probability?

Percentages are basically representations of the share of something out of a 100. Say you had 20 toffees and lost 5 of them you would have lost 25 of your toffees. This means that loosing 5 toffees out of 20 is the same as loosing 25 toffees out of a 100. It is better to explain it this way because it becomes easier to generalize both large and small values to create a good estimate and comparison.

For instance, you can calculate a probability by simply dividing the number and arriving at a decimal value such as 0.3483 which you can then convert into a percentage.
