When we go to the doctor and either pay for a visit with money or with our insurance card we often do not think about how the doctor is actually getting paid for the services rendered. Studies have shown that most Americans do not understand exactly how doctors actually get paid and that a lot doctors actually do not know how much money they are making from an office call when a patient comes in to see them.

Truthfully it is never as simplistic as a doctor getting paid directly from the money provided for an office call. Instead the money must go through a process and the insurance company ends up paying the doctor.
