The use of standard of eyeglass frames are not recommended while wearing an SCBA because the eyeglass frames will prevent facepiece seal at the temples, causing leaks. SCBA stands for Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, and it is often used by firefighters.
A leak in an SCBA could expose the person to dangerous contaminants in the air. If you need corrective vision, you can order lenses that are specially made to fit in SCBA or wear contact lenses. Be sure to check with your supervisor to find out which options are acceptable.
