What is the flow rate for manually regulated IV using the drops per minute?
Ordered: 40 mEq KCL in 100 mL NS over 40 minutes, tubing is 20gtt/mL.

Using dimensional analysis:

100mL x 20gtts = 2,000 = 50 = 50 gtts/min
40min 1 mL 40

I keep on getting 50gtts/min. How is it 16?

Math:
1000/40=2.5 ml/min
2.520=50 gtts/min
or
(60100)/40=150ml/hr
150/60=2.5 ml/min
2.520=50 gtts/min
