$3.87 is the right answer to this question. How was this answer reached? You may want to know the process that was followed. The month of January has 31 days. This can be used to divide the total food cost which is $13,200. The total cost per day in order to feed the residents for that month will amount of $425.80.

This can then be divided again with the total number of residents. Based on the given, the total number of residents is 110. The equation is going to be 425.80/110. The answer will be $3.87. It is safe to say that each resident of the nursing home has a food cost of $3.87 per day.

31/$13200 = $425.80 Divide cost by daysinmonth, give you cost per day

110/$425.80 =$3.87 Divide daily cost by daily census
