“A Christmas Carol” is a novel by Charles Dickens, and it was originally published in London in 1843. It was written when the British were contemplating the role of Christmas in a Victorian-era society. Dicken’s also wrote it because he was tired of witnessing the inferior treatment of the poor. In the novel, Scrooge, the main character, was visited by four spirits.

The first was a man named Jacob Marley, his former business partner who had been just as greedy as Scrooge in his life. Marley warned Scrooge that if he did not listen and change his selfish ways, he would end up wandering the earth in heavy chains just like him.

The other spirits were Past, Present, and Future. These spirits came to show Scrooge what happened, what was happening and what would happen concerning the people in his life, and of course, what would happen to him if he didn’t become a better man.

There are known to be four ghosts that are available in A Christmas Carol. Some people assume that there are only three ghosts namely The Ghost of Christmas Past, The Ghost of Christmas Present, and The Ghost of Yet to Come.

Aside from these three ghosts, we should not discount the fact Jacob Marley visited Ebenezer Scrooge at the beginning of the movie.

As more and more ghosts started to visit Ebenezer, he started to become kinder than before. At the end of the movie, he has become a kinder and gentler version of himself as compared to the start of the movie.

The first ghost in Charles Dickens "A Christmas Carol" was Jacob Marley. He was the business partner of Ebeneezer Scrooge. His death was seven years prior to when the events in the book take place. He died on Christmas Eve. The second ghost was the Ghost of Christmas Present.

His character is similar to Father Christmas from the English folklore. The third ghost was the Ghost of Christmas Past. His role was to show the Scrooge that the lessons he was there to show him were worth showing him and worth the Scrooge believing.

A lot of people assume that there are only three ghosts that are available in A Christmas Carol. The three ghosts are obvious. These are the spirit of Christmas Past, the spirit of Christmas Present, and the spirit of Yet to Come.

These three ghosts are meant to make Scrooge realize a few things about how life would be, but people usually forget that there is another ghost that first made an appearance at the beginning of the story. This ghost is Jacob Morley’s ghost. It was Jacob Marley who gave a warning to Scrooge that he should change his ways. Scrooge did not believe him in the beginning, but there were other things that unfolded throughout the story that made him have different realizations.
