People will have different calorie needs depending on their current body weight and their height. It would also depend on the type of lifestyle that they lead. Athletes would normally use their body more which means that they would need to consume more calories so that they will be able to move around more.

Those who are living a more sedentary lifestyle would probably need to consume fewer calories. The more calories than they consume, the higher the chances that they would gain weight. In order to compute the number of calories that you need, you would need to check out your BMR then multiply it with your current activity factor.

There is no general value as to how many calories people need to have per day, which is why people should be able to calculate the amount of calories they need daily. The amount of calories people need per day differs because of so many factors, they include body weight, gender, age, height, physical condition, body composition, etc. It will interest you to know that two persons of similar body size can also have different calorie requirements. However, in some countries, women are advised to consume 2,200 calories per day, while it goes up to 2700 calories per day for men. As a man, if you want to calculate your calorie requirement per day, the formula to use is 66.5 + 13.8×(bodyweight) + 5×(body height) divided by 6.8 × (age). For women, the formula is 655.1 + 9.6 × (bodyweight) + 1.9 × (body height) divided by 4.7 × (age).
