Zoom is an active social website that lets you chat and have meetings with a one hundred people per session limit. It has become quite popular since the onset of the COVID outbreak. The Indian government has banned 59 Chinese apps from India, including Tik Tok and SHAREit, and Zoom, and the Ministry of Information Technology issued the ban. It also called for a ban on Chinese imports and product apps.

Zoom is not a Chinese company; however, it is an American company founded by a Chinese American billionaire, Eric Yuan. Zoom was not only launched in the United States; it is also headquartered in the United States.

The answer to this question is No. Zoom is not a Chinese app, though the CEO of the company, Eric Yuan, is a Chinese-American. However, this alone does not make Zoom a Chinese app. Eric Yuan, in a bid to quash the rumors that surround these controversies, has maintained that Zoom is an American app which is headquartered in California. The company has been brought into a lot of controversies lately about its link to China. While refuting the allegations, Eric Yuan claimed he is a US citizen and that such allegations should not be bought. These controversies are believed to have stemmed from a temporary misconfiguration issue which the company had to fix. He further added that Zoom is a multi-national company just like every other tech company, meaning it also uses engineers who are Chinese. But that doesn't mean it shares a link with China, and it doesn't make it a Chinese company.

Last August, Zoom said that they would stop offering their services to those who are living in mainland China. If people in mainland China would like to continue using their services, there are some third-party services that will be able to provide what they need instead. The Chinese government has decided that the different policies that are being offered by Zoom. There were conferences done to lessen the blow of the events that occurred but were unable to do so. There are some calls that have mistakenly been placed through the various data centers in China. Some people also believe that there may be some important data that is being monitored by China right now.
