A cylinder is one of the shapes that you will come across with when you are studying intermediate math.

To calculate the volume of a cylinder, these are some of the things that you have to do:

• Know the formula of the cylinder. In this case it is, V=πr2h

• Take note that r stands for radius while h stands for height.

• Check the numbers that are placed on the sides of the cylinders and replace the letters of the formula with the given numbers.

• Start your computation.

• Double check your answer if possible.

There are some free online calculators that will provide you with the answers the moment that you put in the data. Yet, knowing the formula can be effective especially if this is something you need in your work or the tasks that you do.

1. The volume of a cylinder is very easy to calculate, most especially when you know the formula and the values for all parameters have been given.

2. To calculate the volume of a cylinder, you will need to use this formula: V = πr²h. At times, you can simply calculate the area of the circular base using πr²; then you multiply it with the height of the cylinder.

3. In the event that the radius of the cylinder is not given in the question, but the diagram of the cylinder is provided, determine the radius of the cylinder by using your ruler to measure the longest point of the circular base, and divide the value by 2.

4. Let's use the formula to calculate the volume of a cylinder. Say the radius of the circular base is 4cm, and the height of the cylinder is 10cm, then using: V= πr² h, V= 3.14 × 4² × 10= 502. 4 cm³.
