To address a letter, just follow these steps below. Firstly, address the letter to the recipient as well as the occasion. If the letter you are addressing is an informal letter, you can be straight forward and warm with your greetings; you can use an example like “Hello John” or “Dear Michael.”

If it’s a formal letter, “Dear” is the appropriate greetings. Always use appropriate titles for recipients, if you are addressing a couple of us, “Mr. and Mrs.” for a family “The Jones.”

For a general salutation for someone you don’t know, you use “to whom it may concern” or “Dear Madam” or “Dear Sir” or “Dear Sir or Madam.” You can also use the recipient’s job title. Always put your address at the right corner of your paper and the recipient.

You may want to address a formal letter but since letters are almost obsolete, you may not exactly know how you are going to do it.

* The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that you will place the full name of the person on the envelope.

* Write the company name on the second line. The company name may be the place that the person is working for or the company that the person owns.

* On the third line, place the street where the letter should be sent.

* The fourth line should provide all the additional information about where the letter should be sent.

* Make sure that the address will be aligned to the left to make the letter look more formal.

Addressing a letter simply starts with writing the addresses in the right way and in the right position.

• Write your own name and address at the top left corner of the envelope. Make sure you use your official name and your detail address.

• Write the recipient's name at the center of the envelope. Write the name in full, and ensure it’s the official name. Also, ensure you add the correct title to the name, such as Mr., Mrs., Ms., etc.

• If it is an official letter referring to an organization, write the name of the organization or company on the next line.

• You may need to add an office or apartment number to some address.

• Just on the next line, write the city, state, and zip code of the recipient. Ensure you write the city and state in a title case.

• If you are writing an international letter, kindly add the recipient's country also to it.

• Lastly, affix a postage stamp to the top right corner of the envelope.

Addressing a letter is to write an address on a letter or on an envelope that consists of a letter. First things first put your name and address on the top left corner of the envelope; this is to make sure the letter is returned to you if not delivered to the recipient, to write the address you need your street address or P.O. Box, city, state, and Zipcode.

Next, put your recipient’s full name boldly at the center of the envelope. When addressing a person at work, it is best to include their Company name.

Make sure the recipient address is correctly placed under their name, including their apartment number or office number, city, state, and Zip code, include the country of the recipient if it’s an international letter and put a postage stamp in the top right corner of the envelope.
