Representing data that must be recorded for an informative purpose can be illustrated in many ways, and two of the most common methods include table and figure. Tables can be demonstrated through text or numbers in the form of columns, and they can also be called a grid, which has rows and columns with numbers.

Each column contains a heading or a title, and they are utilized to represent the observed data in a simple form. They are not used to show the relationship between separate values. When labeling a table, the label numbers are centered and written on the top of the tables.

On the other hand, figures are illustrations other than tables. Figures could be drawings, photos, bar charts, clip art, flowchart, diagram, photograph, or infographic. Figures and graphs are utilized to demonstrate the relationship between different data or various relationship patterns. Arabic numerals symbolize figures. The way that figures are shown depends upon the data that you are attempting to put on display. Figures are labeled at the bottom, and the main goal of a figure is to assist readers in understanding your work.

Tables and figures are both used to present data either in a paper, report, presentation, etc. Tables usually are seen with rows and columns, and their cells have raw data in them. A figure, on the other hand, is a more graphic representation of the data in a table. It can be a pie, bar, line chart, drawing, mapping, or illustration. Normally, tables are shown first to show the raw data, then to give more context to the numbers, a figure is then used. These two are very helpful in terms of helping the reader or audience to understand the data easily as compared to reading it all in paragraph or essay form.

Tables can be described as numbers or texts, which are presented in the form of columns. They can also be called a grid that has rows and columns with information or numbers, and every column has a heading or title. They are used to represent the accumulated data in a simple form, and they are not used to demonstrate the relationship between separate values.

Tables are labeled by Roman numerals as Table I. When labeling the table, the labels are centered on top of the tables. Figures are any images other than tables, and they could be drawings, pictures, bar charts, and clip art. Illustrations also contain graphs and pie charts.

Figures or graphs are utilized to illustrate the connection between different data or different relationship patterns. Tables and figures are selected according to the most effective way to demonstrate the information. It also depends upon what data one is attempting to display.

Do you know the difference between a table and a figure? A lot of people may become confused. You should know now that a table is meant to show the raw data. This means that if you would like to present raw data, you know that you need to use a table to prove a point.

If you would like to show the results of something that you have done, that is the time when you can use figures. The best thing about this is that figures will be able to show results. For example, you would like to prove that what you did has worked. Figures may come in charts, photos, maps, and so much more.

Tables and figures both hold data and information. Tables are created in the form of columns. These columns will include text and numbers. Figures are illustrations. There are many examples of figures, including photographs, pie charts, and bar graphs. Tables are mainly used to show data, but figures can be used to show patterns of relationships. Another key way to differentiate between figures and tables is that tables are represented by Roman numbers, while figures are represented by Arabic numbers. Along with the types of numbers used, tables have their labels at the top, while figures are labeled below the information.
