The word robot is very common meaning you might not have any problem figuring out what it means. We all know robots are automated or programmed machines built to perform some complex task or a group of tasks.

Cyborg, on the other hand, is a term used for someone who is part machine meaning when a living organism has a machine fixed in any part of the body in order to improve certain capabilities in such an individual. In other words, a cyborg is a robot who is part organic. Most times, the common examples of cyborgs we are used to are the ones showed in movies.

While cyborgs do exist in real life, they are not limited to human beings, as other animals like dogs, cat, lion, goat, can be made to become a cyborg. While robots can be created to look like humans or any other living organisms, that does not make them cyborgs. In short, the living part of cyborgs is what differentiate them from robots.

The major difference between robot and a cyborg is the presence of life. A robot is actually a machine which is advanced. It is most times automatic and requiring a little interaction with humans. While cyborgs on the other hand, are combinations of a machine and a living organism. It doesn’t really have to be human being. The living organism may be a bird, dog or any other living organism.

This living component is what accounts for the disparity between a robots. This simply means that a cyborg is living but a robot is not living. In the real sense, there are some robots that can simulate some aspects of living beings but it is never truly alive. A robot can only do what it has been programmed to do but a cyborg, most especially human cyborgs can exercise their free will on their activities. Cyborgs walk among us and we cannot identify them but robots cannot.
