A peacock is known to be a male peafowl while a female peafowl is going to be a peahen. The young peacocks are going to be called peachicks. The children of the peafowls are going to be called peachicks. The thing about peacocks and peahens is that people normally assume that peacocks are females probably because of their appearance.

Females will have a more subdued appearance as compared to males. Their colors are going to be brown, cream, and gray. Peacocks are going to have blue feathers which make them more visually attractive. There are even some peahens that will not have any feathers at all.

Peacock is a male bird, popular because it is beautiful and its behavior. It has an average weight of about 8kg when raised in a suitable atmosphere and well-fed. It has a tail with decorated feathers. It has an estimated length of around 45 inches. Peahen is the general name that is used when referring to a female peafowl, which has a smaller size when compared to its male.

A major disparity between peacock and peahen lies in their colors. While peacocks are very colorful, bright, and attractive, Peahens are so dull and unattractive. Another striking difference between peahen and peacock lies in their sizes.

Peacocks have a bigger size and higher weights nut the sizes of peahen are moderate. A lot of research has been carried out, and the result of the studies revealed that the average weight of peacock varies from 5kg to about 8kg. The average weight of peahen is around 5kg.

The first difference between peacock and peahen that needs to be highlighted is that peacock is the male peafowl while peahen is the female peafowl. Although both are colorful and have flashy feathers, the male peafowl i.e., peacocks have more colors than peahens.

This might not be unconnected with the fact that peacocks need something to attract their female counterparts for mating. In contrast, peahens have colors that are less attractive. Another difference you would notice is the presence of more distinct colors along the tail of peacocks compared to that of peahens. In terms of weight, peacocks weigh more than their female counterparts. Averagely, unlike peahens that weigh up to 4 kilograms, peacocks have a higher weight between 6 to 8 kilograms. Another differentiating feature of these two animals is the number of feathers in their tails; an average peacock can have close to 200 feathers in its tail, whereas it is around 100 in peahens.
