Conference and meeting both refer to the gathering of people for discussion. Conference and meeting are not too different from each other, but in practice, there are some differences which cannot be neglected.
A conference is a meeting especially with an agenda which is formal for exchanging information, discussion and also consultation.
The conference is usually large scale because people from different fields of life, religion, business, society gather to discuss a particular topic. The number of attendees is large, so it is usually organized in training centers, hostels, designed conference rooms, etc.
Meetings are more causal than the conference; meeting may or may not be planned. A meeting can be held in an office, at home, and at any given time. The attendees for the meeting are lower in numbers when compared to the conference. When it comes to time duration, meetings are usually shorter than a conference.
