Hippies come from an exciting and tumultuous generation, and they created their social groups because they did not believe in society's norms and standards. Hippies were anti-war, always stoned, moved from place to place and traveling light, and listened to psychedelic rock 'n roll.

Music such as Jimmy Hendrix, Cream, Janis Joplin, and The Rolling Stones inspired them, and hippies fought for freedom and peace. There is so much symbolism for the hippie movement, such as the peace sign and bell bottoms. Their time was mostly in the 1960s going into the early 1970s.

On the other hand, a hipster follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those that are not the typical mainstream styles, and unlike hippies, hipsters tend to wear straight leg jeans. In British English, trousers cut to fit and fasten at the hips are called hipsters. Hipsters enjoy listening to Indie rock such as Pixies, The Black Keys, The Strokes, and Arcade Fire. They avoid being labeled, as they are against labeling and stereotypes. The word hipster is a slang word that means a young middle- class person who follows unconventional trends and pop culture.

Hippies and hipsters are both subcultures in society used to describe a way of life of some people. Hippies became very popular during the 1960s in the United States. They are usually identified wearing very bright colors (mostly tie-dyed shirts and pants), have peace sign accessories, which signify their opposition to the Vietnam war and have flowery designs in their houses and cars. They are known to always smoke weed, and they love to listen to hallucinatory or psychedelic rock music. They believe that in everything that they do, they should be free and not let anything weigh them down.

Hipsters, on the other hand, are a subculture known to be very conscious about their fashion, food, and how they carry themselves. They thrive in the idea that they are not following the latest trends and that they go against the cultural mainstream. Their stereotypical look is that they wear thick glasses, skinny jeans, and they like gluten-free meals. An interesting note about them is that they usually do not like to be called a hipster.

Hipster is a slang word that was used in the 1940s to describe someone who follows the latest trends. The word came up again in the 1990s. The term hipster refers to young middle-class adults whose fashion is modern and “hip.” Hippies, on the other hand, were a massive part of the culture and the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. Hippies mainly young people at the time, as this was a new and radical movement for the youth.

Hippies typically reject conventional values in favor of a more literal stance, and they are also known to take hallucinogenic drugs and smoke pot. They also typically listen to what we now refer to as classic rock, such as The Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead. Hipsters, on the other hand, may follow fashion and attire that goes outside of the cultural mainstream. Hipsters often pay quite a lot of money to appear poor, and that is all part of their fashion sense. They also usually listen to indie rock.
